1. You have no
goals.
Goals are what get you going.
It you have no goals, your goals are not challenging enough or you have
outgrown your goals, you need to refresh them. Give yourself worthwhile goals
that make you feel enthusiastic about achieving them. When your goals are
aligned to your inner calling, you will feel excited and energized about them
and would be driven to pursue them.
2. Your goals
are too big for you.
When your goals are too
difficult or seem out of your reach, you find the task of pursuing them
daunting. You begin to consider your goals boring and are put-off by them. It
is therefore important to always set realistic goals for yourself. Lower your
goals if you find them too intimidating. Begin small and as you accomplish your
goals, keep raising the bar higher for you. This will ensure that you never
lose interest in them and keep going with enthusiasm.
3. You are
pursuing too many goals at a time.
No matter how driven you are
for pursuing your goals, if your work overwhelms you are you feel completely
exhausted and drained out, you will not be able to enjoy the pursuit. Your
progress will be slow and the goals will feel like a burden. In order to
maintain your interest and remain passionate, chase your goals, one at a time
and break down each goal into smaller easily achievable bits. It will take the
pressure off from you and you will get more things done at a faster pace
without telling on your stamina and patience.
4. You don’t
have control over your life.
Many people are so stuck up
role-playing and getting on with their daily chores that they feel as if the
remote of their life is not in their hands. Mechanically carrying out your
duties and commitments without deriving any real pleasure from the work that
you do is one of the biggest causes of boredom. When there is no sense of
purpose, you cannot expect happiness and contentment to come your way.
5. Not
celebrating your successes.
If your life is all about work,
work and more work, you will find yourself becoming extremely dull. There is no
point in accomplishing goals if you don’t celebrate them and remind yourself of
what they mean to you. Take time out to celebrate the milestones and pat
yourself on the back for doing good work. This will boost your self-confidence,
add to your self-esteem and motivate to go on in pursuit of more challenging
goals.
6. Not evolved
and changed over time.
Everyone grows and evolves over
time. What seemed interesting to you once may not be so enjoyable and exciting
as you grow, for your needs and views change. You cannot keep doing the same
old things and expect to enjoy them forever. Boredom does creep in. So move
away from the status quo and try something different. Pick up a new sport or
hobby. Meet new people and make friends. Develop interest in new genres of
reading, watch different TV channels, and listen to new music than you have
been doing before.
7. Doing the
same old things or not creative enough.
To break through boredom, allow
yourself new experiences, move out, travel and learn new things. Hone a skill
that unleashes the creative side of you. Pick up a craft, hobby or activity
that stimulates your imagination and helps you to create something new.
Creative people seldom get bored because their mind is always occupied with
creating something novel and amazing.
8. Not
involved in adding value to others.
Associate with a social
organization and devote sometime weekly doing things for others and helping
them. When you stretch beyond yourself to help others and add value to their
life, you will feel happy and experience a sense of gratification.
9. Poor
self-imagine.
You are the person who knows
yourself the best, are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, your positives
and negatives. However if you keep reminding yourself of only your flaws and
shortcomings or keep beating yourself up for the mistakes that you made, you
are bound to feel low. Your self-esteem is sure to dip. You will then be
unenthusiastic and disinterested in taking up new things and taking up challenges
making your life dull and boring.
10. Not living
life in sync with your liking.
Make a wish list; note down the
things that you have been yearning to do but were not being able to do due to
lack of time or will. Make it your goal to carry out the list and satisfy your
deepest longings. Keep striking the things that you are able to accomplish.
Keep adding new ones as and when they come to your mind. This will not help you
make your life meaningful and interesting.
11. Fear of
failure.
No one likes to fail at
anything. That is a natural human instinct. Yet, without trying and failing,
there can be no success. If you keep yourself away from doing difficult things,
you will be restricted to try the time-tested and routine stuff which over a
period of time gets boring. Get over your fear for failure, step out of your
comfort zone and grab new opportunities that come your way.
12. Not
bonding with like-minded people.
Interacting and hanging out
with people who share your ideas, dreams, have common interests and who enjoy
doing the same things as you not only refreshes you but infuses you with
enthusiasm and new ideas.
13. Having a
negative self-image.
When you feel worthless and not
capable of achieving anything in life, you feel bored, down and depressed.
Without a sense of accomplishment, life has no meaning. You drift aimlessly
without choosing a particular direction to tread in. To prevent life from
becoming mechanical and dull, it is important to feel good about yourself. When
you accept yourself the way you are, love yourself and have high opinion about
yourself, you enjoy living life and are happier doing things that make you come
alive.
14. Working
too hard.
When your hands are full and
you are overwhelmed by work and responsibilities, you find life rather dull. If
you have been working too hard, it is time to unwind. Get away from the routine
work and people. Take a break or go on a holiday. It will not only prove to be
a refreshing experience but will also give you an insight into your life.
You’ve got only one life and
you owe it to yourself to make it interesting and worthwhile. So get going. Put
yourself first. Get in the driver’s seat, get control over your life and set
the wheel in motion. Figure out what is it that is bringing boredom in your life.
You have the ability to turn your life around and make it more fulfilling. Find
out the purpose of your life- what is it that you want to achieve and where you
want to reach. Give yourself worthwhile goals and plan how to go about
accomplishing them. Then go all out to achieve them. Move out of your comfort
zone, go the extra-mile, make things happen and you will realize that fun and
excitement in life are not far away in life.
